The ball is used to thin out the edges of petals to make realistic-looking sugar flowers. Simply hold the tool so the center of the ball aligns with the edge of the petal, then trace around the edge.

For a ruffled flower, do the same, but press down and push the ball tool making small back-and-forth motions around the edge of the petal. Use different size ball tools depending on how big or small you want the frills!
