Bakell's Christmas Ornament Cake Pops
Who doesn't love cake pops? This easy to make treat is a fan favorite and something that everyone can accomplish. An ordinary store-bought cake becomes a magical Christmas ornament treat using this recipe! Add some EXTRA pizzazz by using our amazing glitter & dusts.
Did you know that the first Christmas ornament was made entire out of blown glass and originated in Germany? You can thank Prince Albert for the Christmas Tree! For this recipe you will need 12 round cake pop straws & our edible glitter or dusts.
Here's what we're going to do:
First, crumble your store-bought cake into smaller pieces and then blend them in the food processor until it's just a crumble.
Divide the crumbled cake into 12 sections and shape them into balls. If the cake isn't moist enough to stick together add a little frosting to the mix. Place them on a pan and leave them in the fridge for a couple of hours to firm up.
Melt the chocolates in separate bowls, over pans of simmering water or in a microwave. If you choose the microwave options, melt them in segments of 30 seconds and mix the chocolate each time so it doesn't burn. Remember- use a microwave safe bowl!
Once they've hardened, make a hole in each cake pop ball with a cake pop straw of choice. If the cake is too hard, let it thaw out a bit. Once they've all been set up, take the melted chocolate and dip the cake pops in!
Repeat this process for the rest of the cake pops and then set them aside for 30 minutes so they can dry. If the dipping method does not work, you can always spoon the chocolate over the cake pop while holding it over the bowl. Whatever method works best, it's up to you!
Here's a fun tip: Use an upturned colander or a polystyrene block to keep your cake pops standing while they set - just make sure your cake pop straws will fit in the colander holes before you start.
Once the chocolate has set slightly, but is still sticky, coat half of them in the Tinker Dust and then paint the rest with Luster Dust! Double layering it can allow the cake pop to be both shimmery and glittering.
Now, take the sprinkles and place them on the end of the cake pop so the look is complete! You've got some super cute cake pops now.
So, what do you say? Give it a try at home, for parties or whatever you'd like!
From Bakell to you, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
