My name is Venessa, and I am the baker behind Foodiepharmbabe - oncology pharmacist by day and cake queen by night! Growing up, I have always loved baking, as it has served as a creative and therapeutic outlet for my fast-paced life.

MY MOTIVATION TO LEARN BAKE

BEHIND THE SCENES

Cake Curiosity

Although baking has always been a big part of my life, my cake curiosity grew significantly during my last couple years of my pharmacy degree. From then on, my cake repertoire has grown in abundance and flourished in the small, tight knit community of Saskatoon. My small business truly could not exist without the encouragement, support and positivity that this community has consistently given me, whether it be a local charity cupcake competition, or a national television show.

I look to the arts for my cake inspiration as creating cakes is as much of an art to me as is a beautiful landscape to a painter. If it can be created with paint, then buttercream becomes my medium. If it can be carved into pottery, it can be carved into a cake! The possibilities are truly endless. Aside from my cakes, I love to experiment with elegant french patisserie, tempered chocolate bonbons and the world of sourdough and sourdough baked desserts. If it's detailed in luxurious fresh florals, an overwhelming amount of sparkle and edible gold, you know it's made by me!
